What is an Accessory?

The reason this glossary has been created is to define the clothing ACCESSORY known as the handbag, and all its parts.

An ACCESSORY is a fashion item such as a belt, scarf, handbag, etc., which complements an article of clothing or clothing outfit. An accessory as a clothing item, it is not needed by itself, alone. Yes, you can wear a pair of pants without a belt. But wear a belt without a pair of pants.... and people will stare, or you will be arrested!

An ACCESSORY, though secondary to any clothing item (such as a pair of pants), is definitely important. Yes, a belt has the practical function to keep your pants from falling down (and if your pants fall down, it would also make people stare or get you arrested). A fashion accessory, like the belt, can also make your pants LOOK GOOD. Obviously this fact is important to you, otherwise you would not be here.....

OK, so an ACCESSORY is an item not essential in itself, but adds to the beauty, convenience, and effectiveness of CLOTHING! Most women will not leave home without their handbag, most men will not leave home without their wallet, and most travelers will not leave home without their luggage. And most people, if they left home without these accessories, would FEEL TOTALLY NAKED ANYWAY, whether they were totally dressed or not!

But, hey, if you could only cover your private parts with a fig leaf or a barrel, would you think of accessorizing such with the perfect handbag or wallet? That does not matter, because this site is for anyone who has experienced the need of the fashion accessory, feels naked without it, whether for utilitarian use, or to make a visual fashion statement.....

This extensive glossary provides definitions for what many of us call ESSENTIAL FASHION ACCESSORIES. What most of us would feel naked without (whether we have our pants on, skirt on, shirt on, shoes on, or fig leaf securely in place).....

OK, by now you realize that you have NOT arrived at the Webster's dictionary.... and here "ESSENTIAL ACCESSORY" is not considered an oxymoron!
